Hello. I'm working to restore some TLC to a 640 I acquired. One of the issues
involves the hydraulic system. It operates smoothly and it will lift a 750
pound implement without trouble. However, while lifting, the pump makes a
groaning like sound. When I got the tractor the fluid was milky and
foaming. I have drained the fluid and refilled with TSC Premium
Trans/Hydraulic fluid 4 times. The fluid no longer foams and is a clear gold
color on the dip stick. However, while operating, it becomes a milky color.
When I drain it, it looks clear. Also, the draft/position control lever is
very stiff. Can anyone offer any information about these conditions? Thank you
for any responses.
