SOS shifting

What is the correct way to shift the sos with a loader on it? Push into a pile of dirt and just move into neutral and then reverse? Push in the inching pedal and shift to reverse? Or can you shift from 1 to reverse without stopping? My understanding is that the inching pedal is not supposed to be used for a long time, so pushing it down every time you hit a pile might not be good

I'd use the inching pedal just like you would a conventional clutch, unless the material you plan to load is very loose (like say sawdust), then you could likely get by without using the clutch at all. As with a conventional dry disc clutch, you only want to slip it for moderate amounts of time. The SOS would likely take a little bit more abuse than a normal clutch since it's oil cooled.

Ive spent hours moving used horse shavings at a stable down the road with my 3cyl 4000. I hit the pile in gear 5 and either get wheel slip or the engine
loads down. Depress inching pedal, shift to R1, back away far enough to make my turn, inching pedal down, shift to gear 7. When I hit the lane I shift to
8 (No pedal) and when I get to the field Im going to spread in, downshift to 6 (no pedal) and when the bucket is empty and Im in the lane its up to 8
and sometimes 9. When Im back to the pile I downshift to 5 and repeat. The inching pedal just doesnt see much action since I shift on the go. I believe
you could place stops on the shift quadrant at your favorite forward and reverse gears and not even use the inching pedal. Ive not tried that.

Yes. Favorite gear stops are available and can be set once the cover(s) have been removed.
