Still need to put the fenders on and fix a p/s leak or two, but it's out of the garage and moving under its own power. Previous owner bought it in '14 and never got it running. Not sure how long it sat before that.

Sounds great. Last year we got a 4000SU gas running that had been sitting in a barn for many years (uncertain how many, but the air filter was dated 1988). Nice little tractor. Im still looking for a front weight bracket, or decent front grill guard. Have you found any good used parts sources?

Weight brackets for these are few and far between. I've only run across two, one being on this tractor.
I'm planning on taking it off, since the guy who's buying it will never use it, and he's putting a bumper/ grill guard on. Are you anywhere near n/w WI? I imagine shipping would be ridiculously expensive.

4000SU is a great little tractor to have, plenty of power from the 201 engine and superior wet disc brakes of a larger tractor in a smaller 3000 size chassis
Ive owned my 72 model for 15 years, it was burnt from the steering wheel forward when I got in

The bumper was a fairly new aftermarket when I installed it but the cheap paint they used didnt hold up well

I'll stick with my 4600... longer
wheelbase, stronger front axle, and
bigger rear tires.
But if someone wants a smaller size
tractor, yeah, an SU is the way to go.

I have a 4000AP as well and it sees more use than the SU, but for working in confined spaces like my poultry barns or someone wanting a 2/3000 size chassis a SU model would be my choice

If I was young, Id be jumping into the truck and on my way! But I guess I ought to be patient. Here is our 4000SU
