5000 value follow up

Auction ended a little while ago. I'm a little bit shocked at what the 5000 brought, being a gas, and especially being a hard starter. Dont forget to add the 7% bidder's fee to that.

That's about right around my part of the world. A diesel would bring a couple thousand more. Also, maybe a family member wanted it.

Well I was wrong and low. But I would not give that for it. However makes me feel good about my 1974 5000 diesel. Thanks for the follow up post.

Interesting. I am going to look at an 8600 Cab tractor Saturday that doesn't have duals. It look about like that as far as paint and is supposed to run good and everything work. I was told $4500 but I think I can get it for a little less. So is $4000 a no brainer?

3-4 years ago, $4000-$5000 would get you a nice 8600 or 9600 around here. I knew they've been climbing... but this one will be $11k, if it needs a full rebuild.
I knew 5000 sized tractors have been climbing in price too... but I didn't think they had climbed as much as the bigger ones. Especially for a gas model.

A 5000 series should go in $5000 neighborhood, jockeys have been asking 9-10k for a decade now.

Hard for me to value a tractor with a stuck engine, but that 8000 series should get 8-9k at auction with a running engine, if anyone is finding a good one for under 5k that is a steal sure wouldnt waste time trying to bargain it already is very undervalued.

Anyhow in my back yard.
