#4 cylinder will not fire. Changed plugs, swapped wires, plug fires laying against the
block, checked compression, all four cylinders have 120 pounds compression but it does
take #4 a few more revolutions to get to 120. Have spark, fire, gas but will not fire.
Can pull wire off#4 and makes no diffrence, pull any of the other three and almost
kills it. So I decided to remove the head to check valves and gasket. Both look good,
and I put the head on its side and filled the intake and exhaust ports with penetrate
oil and let it set and no leaks, so I decide to remove piston to check for maybe
broken ring. Rings look real good, even has hatch marks on the liners yet. Also
checked valve lift to make sure cam lobe not worn and that was good. Don't know where
to turn now. Help!!!

SkipperII, suggested manifold gasket. What about the manifold itself? Does the number 4 plug get wet?

Machine shop called and said valve guides are shot,#4 guide is real bad and valve would not seat correct every time

Well, you didn't say you took the head to a machine shop. That was good, glad they found the problem.
