After a long delay, I've been working on this '73 4000SU. Actually runs real nice, without any real work on the engine itself, just had the injector pump and injectors rebuilt. (Pump was in bad shape after having been left with water in it)
Now I have to put a new PTO shaft in it. I think you can see the thrust washer that has dropped down. Service manual says a rear split is in order, but I seem to remember reading about a trick to avoid that. Use a broom handle with grease to push it back into position, and stick it there. Is that right?
