Ford 901 series suffixes

New to sight. I have a Ford 941 SN.78638 1959. My problem is I don't understand the three suffixes. 941 -5-L-D. I know the tractor may be a part tractor. As it is know it has a 172 CI on gasoline, the 5 I get it has a wide front end, what I don't get is the L and The D. It can't be a factory LPG and Diesel. The suffixes don't seem to be altered the dashes in between are laying down 1 and I have read that is common. There is no mention of the Sherman trans and it also has the rear rim that can be screwed in or out to change row width. Have many more questions for later. Thanks.
 
Interesting that it has both the L and D. Remember too that on a tractor approaching 65 years old...any number of parts and swaps could have taken place. If you have a Sherman in yours, it too could have been added to a 4 speed after the factory.
 
Take another very close look at that model number with a very bright flashlight and magnifying glass. Paint layers, battery acid, wear, all make them difficult to decipher.

Hay Steve yes the tractor is a part's tractor but I still wonder what was going on the day the tractor was stamped.To Tom's post there is no damage from rust the paint look's original and the marking's are cut deep and very readable you can even see the diamonds in front and rear of serial No. It's not really important as it is no show tractor it's just my curiosity as to the (interesting} and strange marking's. Maybe one day someone will see this and be able to tell use what happened. If it was a mistake I may have a possibly rare incorrectly marked tractor. thanks for the reply's. My last project was a 1958 JD 70 D she now runs great.
