This one's on an estate auction not too far from me. Described as 1 owner, needs a tune up, starts hard.
Any guesses as to what it will bring? I've been off on my guesses lately, as to values of '65 and newer models. Seems the limited supply and/or emissions system and electrical issues with new ones is pushing up the value on the older ones.
If it sells cheap enough, it will be a project for my kids and me. We'd pull the gasser and rebuild and swap in either the 256 turbo or 268 that I have.

(quoted from post at 21:19:26 04/22/22) $3000

I'd be shocked if that sells for $3000, I'd wager closer to $5000, not hard to see higher than that. Of course, weather on the day of the auction is probably the biggest factor.

Not in my book on a gas 5000.
Let's hope he post back on what
it sells for. If you think that's
worth $5000 makes me feel good
about my diesel 5000.

Online sale, so weather isn't a factor.

A 6600 with a 5000 gas engine and a bad
rear rim that had been sitting for 5+
years (lots of varnish in the tank,
lines, and carb!) brought $6000 earlier
this year, near me. I thought that had to
be an anomaly.

If this one with a (probably tired) gas engine brings anywhere near $5k, what would it be worth with a fresh 268 diesel in it? (bored and
sleeved, crank turned, new pistons/rings/bearings, and the paperwork to prove it) A year or two ago, I'd have said $6000 +/-, maybe $7000.
Now?

Typically a $5000 tractor around here.

I was really fortunate to get a 5200 diesel for $5400 quite a few years ago now, small auction in an out of the way location.

On a lot they ask $10,000.

Gas hurts it a little, but only a little.

I watched a gas 4000 sell two weeks ago at auction for 6300. Looks like it was about the same condition.
