Battery Cables

Local Ford dealer doesn't have measurements for older tractors. Maybe someone here knows. I need pos. and negative battery cables to fit a Ford 3000 stock tractor with the 4DLT
battery. Both battery posts are at same, left, end of battery Thanks for your help. Gary

Two ways that I get cables: take my old cable to a local implement dealer who has wire, fittings and the crimping tool OR, take measurements with a little extra and have them make it. Has worked well for me for years.

32 will do a 4dlt with both post at the same end. However I would put a longer negative cable on there so you can run a regular car battery in there with the post at opposite end. ALWAYS take care to route the positive cable correctly so the folding hood does not touch it and rub a hole in the insulation and catch your tractor on fire!!

Just another thought the battery tray can rotate with the front end going out to the right hand side of the tractor. Handy to gain access to the top of the motor for adding oil. Factor this in your measurement. Mine used to have an N94 battery which was large and very heavy they were used up into the higher horsepower models, made the 3 spin fast and start easy.

Don't know the length.

But when you install your new ones, put them (at least the positive cable) in a piece of hose,
or put a bunch of layers of tape over the cable where it runs down in front of the fuel tank.

The cables rub on things and can wear through the insulation.
