I recently bought a 1955 Ford 960. I have also owned a 640 for about 15 years, so am somewhat familiar with Ford tractors of that vintage.
The 960 has power steering which seems to work, but is leaking between the reservoir and pump. My reprint service manual shows two gaskets between the reservoir and pump, but I can't seem to locate anything that shows size, material, and/or part numbers. I found a couple of posts that say the filter in the reservoir should be a NAPA 1653 or Baldwin P183. Can anyone suggest whether parts are still available, part numbers, or any other helpful information.
My fuel shutoff valve is also leaking (like most). I still have the valve from my 640 that I replaced a decade ago. It is now missing the filter screen. Various posts have suggested I need 009 and 115 o rings to rebuild the valve, and should probably have several 12-24 x .75 screws on hand (because I tend to drop and lose them.) Is this correct?
The tractor still has a 6 volt system, but the previous owner converted it to electronic ignition. The tractor now has Motorcraft AL7C sparkplugs gapped at .025 Is this plug as good as any?
I'm sure I will have more questions, but I need to raise the seat and move it back and install a step before I can start much work.
