Adding factory power steering to 850

I am in the process of adding factory power steering to my 850. My question is about the control valve. which port is for the pressure from the pump and which is the return? I am going to have to make up the lines but I cannot get a clear picture of the connections in my service manual. Thanks

I added OEM power steering to my 850 last year. Here are some tips. Firstly, I made up the hydraulic lines from brake tubes I got at Napa. This is a mistake, the metal tubes do not bend around enough to get them the right places and still screw into the fittings into the cylinders without binding. Bite the bullet and buy the pre made rubber hydraulic hoses which are available specifically for this tractor. Also, the pre made ones have all the correct fittings and they have the 90 degree bends where they need to be near the steering column. My home made lines always leaked at the cylinder fittings, but the pre-made ones are perfect with no leaks. I dont recall which hose goes where, but go ahead and connect both sides the same way, jack up the front of the tractor and turn the steering wheel (dont forget to fill the reservoir. If the front wheels move in the wrong direction, then go ahead and reverse the hoses at the cylinders. Hope this helps, LarryMaine,

The port more so in the middle or facing mostly forward is the pressure port, the port more so to the right is the return line to the pump.

LarryMaine, thanks for the reply. I already have the steel lines but if I have a leak problem I will go with the hoses for sure.

WayneIA, thanks for the reply. That is what I needed as I got the parts for the power steering already removed from the donor tractor. The pressure and return lines from the pump were bent and hard to tell which fitting they went to. They will have to be remade or replaced with hoses. Thanks again.
