FORD---- OLIVER

Just checked my Neb test list and the Ford would have a bit more HP as in 10 or s but if the Oliver is like all the Oliver's I have ever been around it would probably keep up with the Ford

Ive had both, still have the 550. Have to say the 0liver is better engineered, but both good tractors. The 550 has great torc, independent pro. And is a pleasure to operate.

Ford would have 22% more hp, and a live pto, the oliver would have a ind pto. Oliver was almost 100 lbs heavier, with a 6 speed trans over the ford having a 5 speed trans. And since the the pto and drawbar hp both are 22% higher on the ford, And hp is a measurement of work over time, according to tests would do 22% more work over the same time.

I know if the Oliver is anything like most of them even at a lower HP they are likely to pull and work about the same. I have an Oliver 77 and a Ford 841S and the Oliver has less HP but will out work the Ford

One note about the engines is the Ford 172 is over bore and the Oliver 155 is over stroke which may account for the ability to "keep up" with the Fords bigger engine. Generally more torque is developed with an stroked engine.
I'm a Ford guy but I sure love listening to those Olivers purr.
