Hello from Australia

New User
Gday to everyone here.
Im Mac from Queensland, Australia and the proud owner of a 1966 Ford 3000 in need of much TLC.
Although I tinker mechanically I am very new to the world of tractors so you may soon tire of the 1000s of questions going round and round in my head
I have purchased a workshop manual which is winging its way from the USA.
So far the old girl needs a rewire and a very elusive SOS cable as mine is snapped.
Any help or advice is very much appreciated.

Welcome. Before asking a whole lot of questions, feel free to click on the "search" tab then archives and then Ford and you will be able to search all your questions that have probably been answered many times before. Good Luck! and enjoy you Ford.

Welcome Mac! You will find a
wealth of knowledge on this site.
I have 2 Ford 3000's. 1970 and
1972. Both are gas, 8spd, power
steering and differential lock. I
am by no means and expert on them
but there's a lot of guys on here
that are so ask away with your
questions.

I am pretty sure your 3000 SOS uses the same shift cable as a 4000. I just bought some parts from a gent who had one two weeks ago. I will
follow up with him and ask. Send me an email through this site (lower right corner of my reply).

Tim (Dopp Creek)

In my reply, look in the lower right corner where it says Send Email. That will get your message to me via this YT site.

Hello Mac. This forum has two ways to view, the 'modern view' and 'classic view'. Look to the upper right hand portion of the screen and find 'classic view' and click on that. Dopp Creek's email does appear when viewing by 'classic', and does not appear when viewing 'modern'.

Long story, that's just the way it is here and there's some glitches exhibited between the views.

Welcome to the board, it's a great resource and the natives are generally quite friendly.

Thank you for that. I was wondering if I was just plain
stupid and did consider launching my phone across the
paddock.

You might also like to contact The Fordson Tractor Club of Australia at Mandurang South Road, Mandurang South in Victoria. Although the name says Fordson, they have many members who run all sorts of Ford tractors. They have manuals and data available and the tractors are sometimes changed to work in the Australian conditions.

I can highly recommend the gatherings and the food and cakes ( in the morning, at lunchtime, afternoon break and evening meal. I put on weight after every visit) !!!!!

I found out the upper part of the sos cable is the same from earlier models and used it to replace a broken upper cable on my 3000. Actually I even used the shift assembly and cable as a unit. The doaner assembly came off of a 800 series tractor. Best of luck on your parts search.

Thank you sotxbill.
Unfortunately its the lower part thats broken on mine. The upper would have been so much easier to replace apart from making the two green tree that have taken up residence in the cover homeless

Just a quick update to the continuing saga
Today while searching for the elusive cables I bought another Ford 3000.
It was quite literally on my doorstep and very reasonably priced so I just couldnt resist
