I'm trying to keep the tractor 12 volt but
make it negative ground. I'm not looking
to spend a lot of money. Can I take the 6
volt generator off and put a 12 volt
generator on? What wires need to be moved
around to go from 12 volt positive ground
to negative ground also can I use a 12
volt coil with an internal resistor and
eliminate the external one that's already
on the tractor? Thanks for the help

put the 12 volt generator and its matching voltage regulator on, then switch the wires around on the coil so the positive terminal now goes to the ignition switch and the negative terminal goes to the distributor. You can switch to an internal resisted coil and eliminate the external resistor.

If you have 6 volt lights in a now 12 volt system, once energized they will burn out faster than the photons from them can reach your eyes! Replace them with 12 volt units.

Thank you. That's a lot easier than switching to the 1 wire alternator conversion kit and a lot cheaper.

Do I need to change out the solenoid also or will the one that's on the tractor work? This has been change to 12 volt but the person I got it from did change out the generator. Thanks
