MODEL C5024C - C50 at the beginning says that it is a 3500, which is the industrial model in the 3000 series. The 2 means that it has a gasoline engine. The 4 means that it has independent 540 rpm PTO. The C at the end means that it has an 8 speed transmission (4 forward and 1 reverse on the main shifter, plus hi & low ranges on the shorter shifter for a total of 8 forward and 2 reverse speeds)

TRACTOR NUMBER C478154 This is the serial number, which is a 1975 serial number.

UNIT 5J02B -This is a date code for when the tractor was assembled. It decodes to September 2, 1975 during the day shift.

The rest are date codes for when the major components were assembled:

ENGINE 5C18B - March 18 1975 day shift
TRANS 5113C - not valid. second character should be a letter
REAR AXEL 5002B - not valid. second character should be a letter
HYDRAULIC PUMP 5G31B - July 31, 1975 day shift

One correction after thinking about it, they didn't make the 3500 in 1975, so it is most likely a 3550, which replaced the 3500 in around late 1971 or early 1972. The odd thing is that the model designator for a 3550 should be either C55 or K50, not C50, so that is an odd set of numbers that you have there. The 3500 also did not have the double reduction rear axle, so it shouldn't have independent PTO, instead it should have live or non-live PTO, so the fact that it has independent PTO shows that it is indeed a 3550 and not a 3500.

Maybe it is a 3550?
By 75 had they not discontinued the 3500
and went to the 3550?
A 3550 would still have been a C prefix
with a 158 gas or 175 diesel but the rear
end was the double reduction type like a
4000.
The the Ipto in his model # is a clue.
