Blue Smoke/oil leak

I have a 77 3000 3cyl Diesel that is leaking oil after manifold where the exhaust pipe clamps up. I believe the valve guides need to be replaced but not 💯, I have read where it could be a blown head gasket or bad valve guides. I also read it could be a bad injector but that wouldnt cause the oil leaking right? Ive had it for almost 10 years and it has always blowed out blue smoke at start up now its blowing blue smoke pretty regularly. Can I keep useing or should I shut it down and get ready to rebuild?

Start the engine and quickly get by the exhaust manifold and touch the individual ports where it bolts to the head and see if one is cooler than
the others. That will indicate if a cylinder isn't firing right. Always go for the cheapest fix first. If you have a cylinder not firing right it
will be cooler than the others, pull that injector and have it pop tested to see if it sprays at correct pressure. [ or leaks droplets of fuel
after pressurizing it ]. If all's well there you may need to get deeper in the engine. I'd next look at pushrods or valve adjustment. Oil at
the manifold/muffler joint seems like a fuel problem to me. BUT could be the worst scenerio , rings / piston / cylinder..

You most likely are seeing what I call exhaust slobber, which is somewhat normal on older machines that are not worked hard. Even though it looks like oil, it's really unburned fuel mixed with soot.

Take the tractor out and work the snot out of it. My guess is that it will magically go away.

I have been working it pretty hard for the past week. Pulling trees, moving hay bales, plowing, harrowing, and bush-hogging. I believe its working me more than I it. Haha

If you are working it hard enough and you are still getting oil out at the muffler then you either are spraying too much fuel in a cylinder or you do have a valve guide leaking. Slobber is not uncommon tho for machines that are just putted around alot. Get it HOT under load for awhile.
Also, your tractor may be a 67 but not a 77, as the 3000 was replaced after 1975 with the 3600

Ok thanks! The Guy before me repainted and he put new stickers in it. The data plate is super difficult to read and he scratched 77-78 into the plate. I does look like the 67 more than the 77 though. Thank you for pointing that out.
