Ford 420 rear axle outer bearing race removal

Just tore down one side of my ford 420 rear end. Pulled the axle out of the housing and noticed the outer race can not be punched out from the other side. There are two slots in the housing, 12 and 6 o'clock positions just behind the race but I do not see what type of tool to use to beat it out of there. Has anyone done the race / cup removal on a ford 420, same as a 4100 and a bunch of others with wet brakes.

Weld a bead around the inside as centered as you can and it will almost fall out. You can cheat and leave small gaps as long as they are equal.

Might be talking through my hat as I can't visualise what you describe. Have used a large punch or drift plus a hamer and driven bearing cups out of a housing like you describe before. Don't be too vigorous and keep it even side to side. Hope that might help.
