NH 8670 Brake Piston O-rings And Other Related Questions

Finally got the axle housing off one side of this 8670. New piston seals will be installed and hopefully we'll have brakes! Is there a thickness tolerance on the brake disc? I can't seem to find it in the service manual. This one measures .035. This tractor only has the one disc. Also, there was a gray silicone type sealant between the axle housing and the differential housing. Do I need some type of gasket sealer when I reassemble? Thanks!

Can you post a pic or two of the brake linings? I go more by looks myself.

If you indeed have a manual for the tractor, you'll note that they call for an anaerobic sealer for that joint.

Sadly, I'm not able to post pics. I have got to learn how to do that. I've been into the brakes on a 5000 before and like you went by look. The mechanic I'm helping with on this tractor (35 years experience on all brands) said it was not warped, oil grooves looked good. I do have the New Holland Service manual. It's not the easiest manual to move around in. Thanks!

Page 27-56 speaks to reinstalling the trumpet housing.

If the disc is not warped, and the grooves are well defined, I'd say run it.
