Ford type B generator on 6000 Commander

If I hook battery positive to both the F and G terminals on the generator and ground the case the generator should spin correct? I have the belts
unhooked and when I do the above, the jumper wires just get hot and nothing turns.Probably time for a rebuild?

ooks that way to me.
 
You need to energize both the field and the output terminal at the same time to get a generator to motor. The output terminal is not labeled like the F&G terminals are, but it's the biggest one poking out the back.
