Ford 4600 oil pan query

Hey guys wondering if you could help
Me name a certain part, or why its happening. When Inise tractor for an hour or more oil drips out like crazy in a spot on the oil pan that is about a foot in front of drain plug. Looks like a float valve shaped like a codder pin that floats there. Any idea on name of part or why it leaks bad?? Thx. Best investment I ever made was this tractor

That sounds like the weep hole for the transmission bell housing, not the oil pan. The bell housing is where the clutch is located and is normally supposed to be dry with no fluids. The weep hole is there in case the rear of the engine or the front of the transmission leak fluids into the bell housing area so the fluid has a way to escape so the clutch doesn't get contaminated. The cotter pin is there to jiggle around from the vibrations of the running tractor to keep the weep hole free of dirt so it doesn't get clogged and allow the bell housing to fill with fluid and contaminate the clutch.

Good info sure sounds like the bellhousing. Ill check better tomorrow and see if I cant get a pic. Thanks again. Doesnt sound good for the tractor if oil is on there though

It's not really bad for the tractor other than the potential for the trans or engine getting low on oil. Keep an eye on the transmission and engine oil to see which one is getting low and you'll know which one is leaking. Either will require a split of the tractor between the engine and trans to fix it. If it is something on the engine leaking, I would still replace the transmission input seal while you have it split. If the clutch is more than halfway worn I would replace that as well and be done with everything during one split.

One tractor, a 4000 that did that, had the transmission over full... drain it and refilled to normal levels and the problem went away. Was lucky on that one.

ya its definitely the bellhousing where it leaks..looks like motor oil, but if tranny fluid is dirty??? Will have to go over manual again and see how much is required. The little dipstick bu the two stick shifts show proper fluid. Thanks for advice and knowledge 😀😀😀😊

Dirt can get in there, plus there's clutch wear dust in there, so a fluid entering the space clean can come out dark.
