Ford 2000 3 cyl injector rebuild

Can anybody tell if rebuilding the cav injector pump is a huge chore? This one is leaking fuel around the throttle shaft.
Removal and timing look pretty straight forward in the shop manual but whats it like actually taking it apart and then getting it back together?
In some of the other posts sounds like some folks have had trouble with some pump rebuild services.

Thanks for any advice

I "resealed" one for a friend and it wasn't too complicated. Doing it in a clean environment was a big deal. Wife was out of town so we did it on the bar in the kitchen. I used a video on youtube to help. I did not touch the head at all.

If it's only leaking around the throttle shaft, you don't even need to pull the pump off. It can be done on the engine. There are some on
this board who will tell you that it will likely start to leak in other areas as well, however that has not been my experience.

Huge chore as in a ton of work??
Or
Huge chore as in a task where best left to the experienced??

Depends on your ability, and the results you want.

Thanks to all. Bern, what repair parts did you use and where did you get them? I may try this first as it sounds like that might be all I need.

Root, is there a gasket kit for that or what do you exactly mean by 'resealed'? If Bern's fix doesn't get everything that's leaking this may be the next step.
Oh, I appreciate your concern for your wife, there are some things a ladies eyes just shouldn't see and I would imagine this is one of them.

I picked up a kit from Amazon foe around $30. It was complete with all the seals I needed. His pump was the CAV pump like you have.

With reference to the link below, get four of a # 80 o-ring, and one # 53 gasket. You can likely get the parts through your local NH dealer,
or else take the image to the pump shop of your choice and get the parts there. Or you could go online and buy a complete seal kit for a CAV
DPA pump. There are two o-rings on both the throttle shaft as well as the shut-off lever shaft. Do them both while you have the cover off.

Get that pump area as clean as you can, then remove two #68 nuts and gently lift the cover up, pivoting it towards the rear so you have room
to see inside without taking it completely off. You'll need to disconnect spring # 92 from the internal linkage inside the pump. Note which
hole it's in before you disconnect the spring so you can return it to the same spot on reassembly. Also, be careful not to lose small parts #
93 & 94 as you disconnect the spring. The rest should be self-explanatory.

If those seals are leaking the other 50+ year old seals probably aren't far behind.
I bought a seal kit from my local parts store, independent and stocks a lot of tractor parts. I watched a couple of Youtube videos first. I disassembled and resealed the pump and it's working great. As Bern noted the spring in the front cover has to go back in the holes it came from. Cleanliness is important and using your phone to snap pics as you go can help when reassembling. The one Youtube video is an Australian doing a pump on a MF. He's great and easy to follow.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. It sounds like doable project. Once I get the tractor steam cleaned I'll tear into it.
Again thanks for all the info. Experience is the best resource.
