I picked up a parts tractor today. I am restoring an NAA. It was advertised as a Jubilee, but as I checked the serial number I noticed it was not in the right place and was a 640, followed with S/N 57344.

However, the hood had the Golden Jubilee emblem. The owner said the previous owner had rebuilt the engine. There is really no way of knowing. It had an alternator and not a generator. My research says the 640 came with the 6v system I assume is the same as an NAA.

My question would be since the NAA and 600 series had the same engine, could an engine rebuild had exchanged the engine block from a 600? Is there any other way of identifying the tractor? Thanks for any responses.

Most likely a mutt as in parts from 2 or more tractors to make one. I have at least one mutt maybe more

The model ID number is stamped on the transmission housing and so doesn't tell you anything about the engine. There should be some casting numbers on the block that the experts here could decipher for you. There were some differences between the Jubilee/NAA engines and the 600 series tho they share a lot parts. Same with the transmission/rear end. My experience with these models is limited and likely someone else here will chime in.

Thanks pomester. After I posted I went and looked closer and realized the SN was not on the engine block. The Golden Jubilee emblem through me off. The headlights are smaller in diameter than the ones on my NAA. But the sheet metal work all looks the same. I am hoping to use the tires on the parts tractor, because they are in good condition.

I'll have to look closer and do more research to see what it really is. I just want to use some of the parts that will work on my tractor and sell the rest....

This website does a good job of showing the changes over the years. The rear axle hub was attached with a large nut on the NAA and earlier
series. The 600 and later series had no nut. The original hydraulic pump on the NAA series was a vane pump. A piston pump was used from 1955
on. The location of the serial numbers changed.

The vane pump was actually used partway through the 1955 model year for the hundred series before they switched t the piston pump, and many NAA models have been retrofitted with a piston pump. Even the engine casting codes were the same between the NAA and the 600/700 series, EAE 6015. The 172 ci engine used in the 800 and 900 was EAF 6015. I wouldn't rely on the style of pump or the engine casting code as a way to decide what model most of the tractor is. Get the date codes off of all of the major components.

One thing not mentioned so far is the
Julilee/NAA had a different lift cover
than the 600 forward. It had tubes
instead of a manifold for pressure/suction
to the pump. Also the back pressure valve
was not in the lift cover rather in the
hydraulic reservoir compartment.

It is helpful to have the Ford 4 Cylinder
Tractor 1953/64 Parts List to check on the
date ranges for all of the various parts.

The more I look at the details, it's gotta be a 600 series. The rear axle hub is a 600. I am not sure how tell if the hydraulic pump is vane verses piston pump.

So I guess I have me a 600 series tractor with a Golden Jubilee hood emblem. A lesson learned. Looking at the pictures of the rear axles would have told me it was not an NAA if I had known....

I don't like to assume anything any more, but with the piston style hydraulic pump on the 600, is it likely I can use it to replace the vain type on my NAA?

Yes, vane pumps on the NAA were often
replaced with piston pumps for service
purposes. Requires different suction and
pressure tubes. Below is a blurb:

You never know what you may end up with sometimes. I swapped my wore out Jubilee 134 engine with a 192 engine from a Jacobsen G10 turf mower. Bolted right up.
