F3000 generator to alternator steps needed

good morning. New to the sight... glad I found ya'll. I posted on another forrum and it was suggested I jump on this one. I
purchased a 1966 F3000 gas burner last year. It has a very heavy duty bucket and lift support. Has no 3 point hitch which I'm
hoping I can add.
the first thing is getting it running. I bought it as is, not running. No carb. I see Zenith carb is the way to go there.
It's also missing the generator regulator but has the generator.. I'd like to switch it over to an alternator.. What's the
procedure for swapping from generator to alternator on this old beast?
I did purchase a shop manual hard copy that's been a big help so far..
thanks for any help.

Hi, welcome to Yesterday's Tractors. Our hosts here at YT sell a conversion kit that comes with the alternator with the tach drive, pulley, mounting brackets, wiring harness and instructions:

Link to alternator conversion kit for '65-'75 s cylinder Ford tractors

It is a bit pricey but it includes everything, including the tach drive. You can go with an alternator without the tach drive for a lot less money but you will have to figure out something for the tach.

so if I go with the alternator do I still need a voltage regulator? or is that built into the alternator?
thanks, Craig

The alternator in that kit, and most other alternators on the market, have internal regulators. There are a few out there that do not, but they are rare so it is not likely that you would stumble on one of them in your searches unless you were specifically searching for one without an internal regulator.
