I have an early 860 with power
steering and a loader. I have been
having problems with the power
steering. It has become virtually
non-existent. I have checked
things over, fluid is fine,
replaced the cylinders a few years
ago and have rebuilt them. I also
had new Pistons made for the
cylinders with an extra groove so
I could put two packings in. A
year or two ago I checked the pump
flow and pressure and it was
within specs. Since it's been a
while I can't recall the actual
numbers but I know at the time it
was okay. The only place I haven't
been is into the steering gear
under the dash. Is there anything
in there that will prevent the
power steering from operating? I
was told that the steering wheel
should move up and down slightly
upon turning it from the straight
ahead position, and that does
happen. I really don't know where
else to look for the problem. Any
ideas?
