NAA Air Filter

Just started the restoration of my grandfathers NAA. My goal is to take it back to original as possible. I've looked at old photos of new tractors and have yet to see the same external dust collecting jar for the air filter system.

Was this an after market add on? I remember my grandfather emptying the collected dust and dirt every so often. Anybody have any experience with it?

Attached is photo of left side of my tractor.

Thanks. The jar that is on it now is not the one that my grandfather had. If I remember correctly, it was half the size.

An interesting note about this tractor is that I mostly remember it being blue. I read on some forum that Ford dealers offered to paint the red tractors blue, sometime in the early '60's, when Ford changed to blue for their tractors.

The bale holding the jar on is not the one it came with when it was installed. Most likely had a pint mason type jar on it when new. As for the paint yes many of the older Ford tractor got painted blue so as to pawn them off as the new 2000/4000 series tractors. The NAA manual I have list no such part on the air filter by the way

Try a web search for part number 723568 and/or 230056 and see if that's what you remember in your younger days.

Kurt J, that's exactly what i saw. Thanks for the link. At least I know I can get the part...

I'm not sure who put that jar and baling wire on there. It was probably my dad. He took possession of the tractor years ago and he used it for gardening.

That jar looks like the instant coffee jar that I used to see at my grandfathers house in the fifties and sixties.
