Hi everyone,
Im going to look at a 8830 with 8500 hours on, gear box readings they say are good at 75- 80% and its all in working order but a bit scruffy around the edges

Can anyone advise anything I should be looking out for or asking about before I go and have a look please

Any advise would be much appreciate

Regards

Robert Gibb

Thanks yeah will check that, they want 15000 for it which I though was a little steep but not to bad
I might try knocking him down a little given its in order
Whats your thoughts on the price ?

I'm no real expert on values, however if the tractor was green, 15K would barely buy you the cab in today's marketplace. If everything works,
I don't think that's too far out of line.

Hi Bern

The dash is off on this 8830 so I cant see the temp or pressure

Any thoughts on why the dash could be off ?

What do you mean it's off? Is the complete dash missing, or are only certain gauges not readable? If it's the latter, be advised that those clusters are pretty famous for going haywire. Ag Express is where I send mine for repairs.

The dash is there but the modules show no sign of life, Im conerned I can see the water temp or oil pressure in its current state

Could be a loose/dirty connector.

If the dash is completely dead, check for proper power and ground connections going to it.

Great thanks ,
In terms of checking the gear box readings on it , they say its 75-80% !am I right in thinking to check these are correct running through the calibration procedure in the service book will give me up to date readings ?

Yes, you can run through the procedure again yourself, it's not hard. You just need to make sure that the oil is up to operating temp. 70s or
even low 80s would not bother me.

Cool thanks
So is it the higher the number the more worn the packs are ? Or is it the lower? Im just trying to get an idea of how worn they are if they are different to what they say they are ?

75-80is okay

Do you know what the max number is or what you think is worn to the point of the packs needing replaced ?
