Ford 841 Hydralic drive coupler---HELP

So we use a 841 on my farm. Tractor is new to us 3 years. We now have
replaced the 4 bolt drive coupler for the hydraulics like 4 times in the last
3 years. Last one was like 15 hours of use, maybe 2 months or so. This is really a problem, we need help getting better quality parts. After the last install the pump runs really quiet very smooth and we hoped it was fixed for a good while till today, went bang, shaft doesn't spin. Help Rob

You talking a front drive hyd pump for a loader etc?? If you are you need to replace the drive hub and the shaft at the same time and be sure to grease the hub up real well when you install the new parts. BTDT many times over the decades of owning a couple Fords with loaders

I am thinking when you say you have replaced the coupler several times, you are referring to the one at the pump. Shaft doesn't turn? Is that the shaft coming from the front of the engine or the pump shaft itself? What are the conditions of the front axle, it's mount, and the pump mount? Is the drive shaft rubbing where it comes through the front axle?

Yes we use this Ford with a spear/bucket and the pump side is ok, its the inside part that bolts to the flywheel pulley that always strips out. Its a 2-3 hour job with Hydraulic fluid all over and etc along with having to split the front end apart 1 inch to change the coupler. Any better places to get this part from, this last one still has the stickers on it...The splines and grooves on the coupler don't seem to match very well...Thanks so much Rob

Jim .me yes the engine side. The shaft comes thur the front axle with lots of clearance. The pump is out front and has a similar coupler with rubber mounts. This last repair done like 2 months ago produced a smooth running pump operation and I thought we got it licked this time for some time. Then it spun the shaft out the other day right on start up. Thanks Rob

I have somewhere an original pump drive casting painted red with spline teeth cut into it.. And I believe a 2 bolt mount to the crankshaft pulley. If you
still have the original laying around, it may have a casting number on it. If so post it here and I'll check for mine. Also , check the attaching
bolts at the front to see if the loader/pump assembly is shucking forward or backwards . This might put an undue strain on pump drive parts.

thanks Roy, will l look but I'm sure its long gone. Drive rod does have some front/back play but seems straight and like I said is really quiet. We never greased either end around the splines.

I've had to replace both the hub and shaft on both my Ford 841S and my 8N and never had to take the front end off of either. Tight fit but doable. I got them both from this site and they have been there for 5 plus or so years now

So to remove the 4 bolts hub from the flywheel, we need to loosen the front axle bolts and gain the 1" extra. I'm not seeing the right parts on here, Likely will weld the hub to the shaft.

Odd I have an 841S and I got all the parts I needed from this site. You do have to look a bit and measure your old part. I also had no problem removing the old nub from the crankshaft pulley. By the way that is not the flywheel

Yup the flywheel is on the other end. Sorry, will try to fix this again. thanks
for your help. Rob

So as I look at the shaft and hubs. I appears that we have currently a hub on the crank pulley that has the rubber boots around the bolts, and on the pump side we have the same type hub with rubber boots for the 4 bolts.

Do you all think this is wrong. I see one hub with just the 4 bolt hole and no rubber boots. Does this side bolt to the engine crank pulley???

The hub that bolt to the crank pulley I put on my 841S had the rubber around the bolt holes. They take up some of the shock so make the hub last longer and gives it a bit of flex

Answers found; so in the process of ordering these parts for my 841, the company we rec'd parts from in early December told me the hub we received that bolts to the crank pulley is for a Ford 4000 series. This is incorrect and the shaft we got from them is also wrong. They had no explanation for sending us the incorrect parts. Therefore I ordered these parts from another company.
Maybe others should be aware of this place, name is similar to large german beer glasses, hint hint. Thanks for the help everyone. Rob
