shifter boot purchase

I bought a shifter boot for a Ford 600....has anyone had an issue where the boot is too small?

Is there another option to buy this as the old one is ripped, but it's also a 1/4-3/8 larger on the bottom diameter so it will
stretch over the base.

Any ideas ? I don't think that the new one will be able to stretch far enough. I plan to return it but has anyone experienced
this issue?

thanks, moday

It looks like it would be a nice snug fit once you get it on. Try putting the boot in a pot of boiling water to heat it up and get it soft and then see if you can stretch it enough to get it on. Anything big enough to go on easily would end up being a loose fit once it was on.

Put it in a pot of hot water and if that isn't enough put it on the stove and get it even warmer.

Thanks for the tips about the hot water...it's got to stretch quite a bit but I'll try that!

This is NOT an unusual problem. It is the correct boot. Turn it inside out, heat it in boiling water and roll it on.
