Ford 850 clutch issue?

Hi all, I am new to forum. I have had a Ford 850 for about 20 years. I depress the clutch before starting the engine. In neutral. I keep the clutch depressed until the engine is running smooth with no choke. Recently, while still in neutral I slowly let up the clutch, the RPM's drop a bit and the tractor moves forward maybe an inch and stays there. Depress the clutch, RPM's go back up and tractor settles back. PTO is not engaged. Any ideas? I do all the maintenance on the tractor but have not done any clutch work. I appreciate your help. Thank you.

Pretty normal - cold weather, stiff oil in the transmission, when you let off the clutch all the gears and countershaft start moving and there's enough resistance in the system to rock the machine forward a tiny bit. More pronounced if your are using the factory recommended GL1 rather than universal fluid. Not a clutch issue, not an issue at all really. You could check your fluid levels.

Thank you for your quick reply. I wasn't looking forward to splitting the tractor if it was a clutch issue. I've always used the 80 weight per original specs. I'm going to drain it and try the universal I use in the hydraulic system. Thanks again.

I have a 4 cylinder 4000 with thick oil and it does the same thing in cool weather. Hadnt noticed it in summer time. Its just the oil turning things.
