3400 ignition switch again.

I went to napa to get ignition switch for my 68 3400 diesel. Their part number Sparex S65662. It doesn't have spring return to on positon onlyto Heat. That is how I just had a fire. Trying to find switch when you let go of key it goes back to on. Thanks
 

Thats not how the switch works
Heat doesnt have a hold position, its half way between the second on position and start
You wired heat to the wrong terminal

all the ignition switches that I found don't have spring return to on. That is why my tracter caught fire, didn't manually put it back to on. So I am going to install a push button switch so I can leave my finger on as long as needed and let go and it will shut off heat. Thanks for all the help.
 

I'm afraid you misunderstand how the switch works
The switch has off, first position is accessory on, ignition on and then spring tension to start, I have not see a switch yet that did not spring return back to ignition on, none of them will spring back to accessory on
Thermostart heat is half was between ignition on and start while under spring pressure

I may be wrong but it sounds like you had your's wired off, ignition on, heat and then spring tension start. That would cause heat to stay on when the switch springs back from start as the switch would be incorrectly wired.
