Ford 3000, leaking hydraulic fluid really bad at the cylinder shaft that runs thru the Tractor from base of clutch pedal to the Brake pedals. Is this hard to replace. I have the steps off, just wondering how hard it is to remove that cylinder
Thanks in advance
Don

I'm having a hard time picturing a cylinder there. If you're asking about the brake shaft that runs from one side of your transmission case to the other, it's not hard to remove. Drain your transmission first. Unbolt the pedals and drive something like a cold chisel into the crack to spread the iron. If it doesn't come off, try using a puller to help it off the shaft. If the shaft is not worn, you can replace the seals and move on. If the shaft is worn, it will have to be welded and ground back to size. The bushings in the transmission case are pretty resilient and don't seem to wear much. It's your call whether you replace them or not.

Yeah, shaft is the correct term. Not sure what you mean about spreading apart with a Chisel. I will be at my Farm Tomorrow and see if I tell what you are talking about.
Thank you for the information!

The brake pedal casting is split where the shaft passes through and is tightened around the shaft with a bolt. If the brake pedal does not come off the shaft when you remove the bolt, you will have to separate it a bit or use a puller to remove it.
