4610 steering cylinders bent

4610 is bending steering cylinders both sector gears are right arms etc. nothing looks to be replaced except power steering pump I put on. I dont have a manual for these I have one for 1000 series and it says the cylinders should stop short of steering rod hole before spindles hit stops. I assume these would be the same but mine come out a couple inches past the holes when wheels turned and cylinder extended. Anyone have this or know what is causing the problem? Its a 4610 SU

Are they aftermarket cylinders, I bent a replacement cylinder on my 4000SU
Another on here was having a similar issue but said his pressure relief valve in the pump was stuck allowing to much pressure
I thought is if the cylinder tops out before the spindle hits the stop the pressure shouldnt CHouse the cylinder to bend

Its the original cylinders and spindles hit before cylinders
come to max stroke. Came from original owner that nothing
has been changed.

The key here is your statement about the PS pump. I would bet the relief valve is too high for this system. According to my info, the relief
setting for a 4610SU is 600-700 PSI, whereas a standard 4610 is set at 850-950. If you bought a pump for a standard 4610, that might be the
difference here.

You said you have a 4610 and if you ordered parts for a 4610 you got what you ordered
With the steering cylinders on the side like you've described it told us you in fact have a 4610SU, SU means special utility and the tractor has a different front axle and steering than the standard all purpose models
Any time you need front axle or steering parts for your 4610SU look up those parts for a 3610/3910, engine, trans components except the case, rear axle and hydraulic are regular 4610 stuff

It's not the pumps fault. Did you ask for a PS pump for a 4610 or 4610SU? Even if you asked for the latter, I would not trust most parts guys
nowadays to get you the correct pump. What's the part number of the pump?

I asked for one for a 4610SU. I know a lot of the parts are different. I gave the ford part number off the tag on the pump. Cant get much easier ordering that. No it might not be the pumps fault but it would lie on the people that make this stuff from some 3rd world country and me for buying cheap aftermarket stuff. I myself assume most of the time buying something new that it does work like its supposed to or I wouldnt have bought it in the first place!

Might be worth your time to do a pressure check on your pump before proceeding further.

Where did you buy the pump from? If it wasn't from a New Holland dealer, then it's most likely shimmed for 1100 psi, as that's all that seems to be available after market out there these days even though they claim to be replacements for multiple part numbers, including 650 and 1100 psi pumps.
