Ford 2000 Value

Looking at a 4 cylinder 2000. Tires good, brakes ok, steering good, shifts good, starts and runs fine except carb needs work, only runs when
choked slightly. Sheet metal decent not beat up. Good battery. The negative issues are it needs total rewiring, battery hooked up
backwards, not charging at all, water in hydraulic reservoir (very milky), gages don't work, except oil pressure which shows 25 lbs. He's
asking 3 bills and says he is pretty firm. I'm tempted to rescue this baby although I don't need it. What do ya'll think? I'm thinking I
may need to buy a wiring harness and voltage regulator and carb kit, and maybe have genny overhauled and two gallons of hydraulic fluid.
That might come to $350 more or less, plus my labor.

That condition is about normal.... for all of the tractors I come across. Assuming it runs ok, as you describe... tires are serviceable, I buy them or did last year around 2500 to 3200. After clean up, fluid changes, charging system repairs, gauge repairs and a paint job, I sell them with a shredder on the back for $4400 to 4800. Always offer $500 less than he is asking. Make sure the oil is black and not milkshake color, and the radiator does not blow bubbles along with all the other tests.

Forgot to add... there are lots of tractors for sale cheaper, but you really dont want them if it takes a 4800 engine rebuild or other problems, So passing up a lot of tractors to find the serviceable ones is well worth the effort.

The 4 speed is a less desirable transmission on the 3 cylinder models due to first gear being too fast, just like the pre-'65 4 speeds. I would knock at least another $500.00 off my asking price for that.

What do you think this one would bring on a good day? 5 speed with live power.New tires and rims all around. Everything works as it should.Red tiger purrs like a kitten. Still 6 volt and original top link.

That looks like collector material....in the $5k region.

I just traded my '63 diesel 2k with 4 speed, tranny PTO, 3800 Hrs approx. OEM proof meter working, 95 OEM sheetmetal condition, older, but new condition , unfaded paint, no rust, starts in the winter without glow plug assistance (great compression) never had a wrench on the engine proper, 95% non cracked rubber front and back 13.6 x 28 rears, 5.50 fronts, fresh fluids, no fluid related problems, 3 pt performed as designed with lift seals replaced a few years ago.

Trade price was $2k and I traded because I didn't want to go the hassle of selling it myself. Had I chosen to do that the price would have probably been $3750 and well worth it.....for a number.
