Guys, can anyone help me obtain a 7/16 x 4 head bolt, new or used? I'm not sure why, but new ones are showing to be impossible to get on the internet right now. I only need one.

Geez. $32.50 for a bolt.

try Fastenal:

https://www.fastenal.com/product/fasteners/bolts/hex-cap-screws-and-hex-bolts/600003?categoryId=600003&level=3&aggregationSection=true&Dia%2FThread+Size=7%2F16%22-14&Length=4%22&showAll=Dia%2FThread+Size&showAll=Length&selectedAggregation=Length

They have a variety of grades.....

If the part number Andy W. listed is right, that bolt was for a car engine as well. Don't know which one, have to find where the number was used, but might be easy to find in some car engine. Yeah, most of the old stuff is gone to scrap. If it is 292 Y block, I know where there are a few of them. Forget Fastenal, they will make you buy a box of 50 to get the one. Last fall the local store had sign in door saying Minimum counter purchase $25. kinda like don't bother them.

Don't dismiss Fastenal so quickly. Fastenal has changed how they do business. They will accept internet orders and you pick them up at the store. No more walk-in's (at least in my area). Some of the bolt part numbers are a package deal, but they do sell individually.

This p/n is a grade 9 7/16-14 x 4 single bolt and it's $2.26. For counter pickup, they charge a reasonable handling fee, but you can choose shipping.

I've never had a problem with very small orders. Doesn't hurt to check.

I agree! The local Fastenal has been very helpful when I needed a couple special sizes. In fact, more than once they waited on me in the parking lot, then refused payment saying it was "not worth the paperwork!"

FORGET FASTENAL, likewise with places like TSC too JUNK STORES!!! I shop most of my hardware at Mcmaster-Carr.If I need a part now I will go to my local CNH dealer as hee has a huge hardware collection. How many you need...

I think they are head bolts - I got them with miscellaneous fasteners off of eBay reputed to come from a 900 Ford.

They are 7/16" with an overall length of 4".

If you want one, I have some other packages to go out on Monday and I would send it to you USPS. My email is open, I think.

Everyone, thank you for your help. With this forums assistance, I was able to acquire a few used bolts and a new one. I did not realize that they were standard grade 8's. My original bolts do not have the grade 8 markings.

I'm all set! Again, much appreciated.
