brake shaft bushing

I have my tractor separated and pulled the brake shaft out of the bell housing. This is the shaft behind the clutch shaft or towards the rear of the tractor. There used to be a bushing on each end of the shaft that I think is supposed to be pressed into the housing. These bushings are basically gone (worn real thin and not even the whole circumference) when I pulled the shaft. I see them online but some places are not available. Are these normal to come out with the shaft and do they normally slide on the shaft and set in the recessed area on the shaft or should they press into the bell housing with a slight tap of a hammer and block of wood?

Do I also have these same bushings on the clutch shaft that I should inspect? I have not pulled that yet.

thanks, moday
