I'm rebuilding a steering box off a 3000, it's the type box that has the drive bushings and when I go to install the bushing for the rear sector gear shaft it binds up the shaft. The shaft will turn freely
before it is installed, but as soon as I start driving it in it will bind and not allow the sector gear to move. I can put a steering arm on it and get it to move, but there's no way to set the adjustment
being it's just too tight for in and out movement. The forward shaft works fine so I switched bushings and it did the same thing. I tried it with and without the worm gear, no difference. Also tried it with
the forward gear in the rear hole and it still did it, seems it may be the opening the bushing gets driven into but how could that be? Anyone have an issue like this before?...Thanks
BTW, the drive bushing is part #47 on the diagram.
