hello I'm have problem with 851 D . the tractor having a problem with starting . i cant find the starter solenoid for this 851d, it has two of them i would like find the number. try to order the dealer so say it no longer be made but is there a crossover part number to replace them both and remember it diesel tractor ty

Although the diesel models have two solenoids only one is used in the starting circuit, the other one is used to activate the intake manifold heaters, aka glow plugs
On 4-5 spd models you need a solenoid with a isolated ground like the gas models use, but 12 volt instead of 6 volt
Select O Speed models use a grounded base solenoid like used on Ford cars and trucks for many years

Starter and manifold preheat solenoid are the same , New Holland part #311006.

Should be readily available through the dealership, all sorts of places to buy 'em on the 'net.

A good auto parts store should be able to cross the number to the brand they sell.

! have two early 4000 4 cylinder SOS tractors. One is gasoline, the other is diesel.

Neither solenoid on either one of these tractors is any different than that on a 4 or 5 speed model.

6 volt is NH # 311007. 12 volt is 311006.

'm with the 2 out of 3 that agree with one another. That makes 3 of 4 now. :)

My bad
When checking the circuits on my 881 diesel the hot post only had power when you pushed the start and heat buttons where as on the manual trans models that post is hot when you turn the key on
This had lead me to think it was a grounded base solenoid like used in automobiles, Im guessing they just grounded the post that normally when to the start button on the manual transmissions

Sorry for the confusion
