I am repainting my 64 4000 and want it the correct shade of gray. Many have said to use 65 and newer while others have said 39-62 is correct. And one poster said to mix both together 50/50. And to confuse me more is the New Holland paint chart skips over years 63&64. The original sheet metal was repainted years ago with the 65 and newer which just didn't look right so i cleaned up the underside of the hood, dash and nose piece since it was the original paint. It looks somewhere between the new and old shades. I painted a sample on each side of the original paint for comparison. The old gray looks closer to the original than the lighter newer color. I have included a photo if this helps anyone identify the original color. This is an all purpose agricultural with the SOS which by the way works perfectly or I would not have restored it. Any help would be appreciated.
The color the center is the original factory applied paint.
