5000 manuals

Will be getting a late 5000 diesel w/dual power later this week. This is a row crop 5200. Are the manuals specific to row crop or GP and do they go by serial number or what? I've seen a few that don't show the same dash layout as I have. I'd prefer to get the correct manuals. Thanks!

My 4000 came with factory owners manual that covered 2000 thru 5000 with model specific areas where required due to differences in
model, engine etc. I think I also have an I and T shop manual for 5000 and 7000 Fords here somewhere. I will look for it if you are
interested in it, respond back.

factory ford manuals come in separate versions like transmission engine hydraulic ,etc ; for 5000 series would have a number of manuals. that said ,factory manuals are pricey, but far superior to any others.

I can't speak to the 5000s as I've never
owned or worked on a 5000.
I do have the big Ford manual that covers
them as well as the smaller ones.
I also have the I&T FO-31 manual which
covers the 2,3 and 4000s which I have owned
and worked on.
The FO-31 has adequately covered everything
I have done to those - engines,
transmissions, rear ends, final drives,
brakes, steering, hydraulics, PTOs, etc
inclucing the hydrostatic steering on the
4200 I recently did a Major rehab on.
The big Ford manual just sits on the shelf
in my office. I think about selling it
sometimes as I have little or no use for it
- and it is big, clunky, heavy and
expensive.

Aftermarket manuals such as the I&T are fine for those people who have a lot of prior experience with machinery and equipment, because those folks are looking more for specs and not process. The factory manual is of immense help for those who are new to the various systems and are struggling to troubleshoot a problem, such as why a 3-point lift would work one moment and not the next. The large color diagrams in the factory manual all of a sudden become invaluable.

You might think it's overkill, and maybe I stand to be corrected, but I thought the 12 volume set was a worthwhile investment
as it covers my newer 4630, but also covers the earlier models as well. I did find this set on e-bay, and it seemed there were
plenty available, believe it to be OEM, not a re-print. Think it was $200 and is the same set the mechanic would refer to at
the CNH dealer whenever I had a question. Maybe more so for someone working with more than one of these thousand series, it
does cover a lot of ground so to speak, multiple models, but covers my 4630 top to bottom. I've also got the operators manual
as well.
