Help finding a 800 series 6v generator part

So last night I was installing new freeze plugs in my 860. During the process I accidentally broke the armature stud. So far I haven't been able to find a replacement stud. Could someone point me at a site selling parts or if someone has an otherwise junk 6v generator I'd pay for their time etc.. for one.

In my area there are shops that repair alternators, starters and generators. If there's one of them near you that would be your best bet.

Unless you have a very high powered soldering iron to solder the fields to the replacement stud, you'll need a professional. If you want to take it on yourself, Classic Generator in Midlothian Texas will have all of the parts. May as well rebuild it when it's apart.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think a regular headed bolt will work. The stud uses a curved flat head. The flat allows the field coils to be soldered to it and the curve makes allowances for the turning armature. Difficult to solder to a bolt head.

Cannot help with the stud but there once was a time when it was included in a generator overhaul kit. Who knows if these are still available.

If you cannot repair yours, I still have 2 or 3 properly rebuilt Ford tractor 6V generators to fit your tractor.

Easy task for any generator shop. Small screw size stud and small gauge wire will not be a soldering problem to a decent do-it-your-selfer.. Grinder will fix screw head height problem , if any..

The generator stud I tried to re-solder had very large flat copper conductors. I have a 120 Watt Weller which couldn't come close to generate enough heat to fuse two field coil conductors to the metal stud. Can't use any kind of flame since you'll burn the insulation on the coils. Had to take it to a generator shop. But you can always try....

ust have been a lot larger than his 20 amp generator or you are thinking about a starter. Further, his generator has no Field connection to Armature terminal?

Must be having a mental breakdown. Yes, it was a starter! Thanks for waking me up JMOR! Apologies for the mis-information...

an happen to any of us, even me , and will happen again if I am lucky. :)

I did find a Gen somewhat close to me so I'm going to pick that up when I get time. There is actually enough room in the back of the gen you can use a bolt. I was just hoping to find a stud and put it back to stock. For the moment I had a Fine thread aircraft bolt that works so I put that in. Internally the generator was in good shape and the brushes had plenty of meat so hopefully that will work.
