I have a 6700 row crop that we are fixing to overhaul. It has been in my family for 30+ years. The transmission housing has been changed 20 years ago and the data plate under rad cover is missing. Is there any other way to identify this tractor? I guess I need to know if wiring, engine, etc are all the same on 6700.
Thanks.

The tractor serial number was stamped into the trans housing, so if the tag is gone, there's no other way to identify it, at least as far as
the serial number goes. That said, you can identify the model number of the tractor through its features, and the approximate build date by
looking at the date codes of some of the other components such as the engine, rear axle, etc.

What info exactly are you looking for?

I will be disassembling tractor and taking motor to engine shop for sleeves and head rebuild. I plan to totally rewire tractor, rebuild power steering pump, replace all gauges, key switch and clutch assembly. I figured I would need s/n to order rebuild kits and other components. I will try to get some numbers off block and rear end. I also will be ordering shop manuals.

The large raised casting number on the right side of the block should be all the machine shop needs to identify it to be able to order the correct parts for the rebuild. The engine assembly date should be down below that next to the engine serial number, and any parts that changed by date can be zeroed in on by that.

6700 was introduced in late 76 replacing the 6600C row crop model
There were very few changes made to it in the 4 years it was built other than the 80 model, this was the Blue Power Special which received the new upgraded 268 engine
