The large seal on the center spindle is NA so I found a V ring that I made fit with a homemade adapter that I fastened on the spindle that allows the V ring to seal against the original seal counter bore.
Also discovered that tractors with wide front axle only use two bolts in spindle and the other two holes are open and allow dirt into the bearings

I used a similar v-ring on my 6000, but lucked out and found one close enough in dimension to go right on the spindle without having to make
an adapter.

Nice fix. What kind of lathe? They are sure
handy.
As to the seal, I'm certain I replaced
mine. The bearing house I use had no
problem getting me one.

A 6000 must use a different size of seal, because I looked in vain for a seal and ended up with a v-ring. Which works just fine because all it's doing is keeping dirt out of the grease. There's no oil to retain.
