Timing 201 correctly

How do I know that number one cylinder is on the compression stroke when I have the motor set up like this? Trying to time it correctly. Thanks guys. Btw its a 3910

ot a direct answer, but gear mark alignment is what you need to get right.

Watch your #1 intake pushrod. When that rod starts to move upward, The piston is beginning to travel downward on the Intake Stroke. Rotate the crank 1/2 turn and
the piston will be at Bottom Dead Center, beginning to rise on the Compression Stroke. A half turn more will get you Top Dead Center, at the beginning of the Power
or Combustion Stroke.

Depending on your camshaft profile and timing, these cycles can begin a few degrees before or after the pistons reach TDC or BDC, but this will get you in the
ballpark.
