TW35 Dual Power Problem

With the dual power in high, it will shift to low on its own. Sometimes it will shift back immediately, sometimes not. I'm suspecting an electrical issue. Do you think its an bad connection or the solenoid on the valve going bad. I've driven it over rough ground trying to get it to down shift, but that hasn't worked. How do I narrow it down to a connection or solenoid? Thanks in advance.

Electrical is likely, however, first rule out pressure because it is a lot easier to do than finding a poor electrical connection. If your pressure is low there could be just barely enough to hold the valve.

It's more likely a loose electrical connection than a faulty solenoid, which would be the better option of the two since the solenoid is not exactly easy to get on and off, although it can be done without splitting the tractor.

Here's what I would do: Pop one of the headlight bulbs out of the socket and use that bulb (or one like it that you have laying around) as your test load. Disconnect the dual power solenoid wire at the transmission and use a jumper wire to power up your bulb at the disconnected terminal, and of course ground the bulb with another jumper wire as well. Turn on the key, put the DP switch in high, and the light should come on. Watch the bulb as you manipulate and lightly tug on all of the various wiring harnesses and connectors. Make sure you grab the harness in the area of the DP switch under the floor as well. Tap on the side of the DP and ignition switch inside the cab as well. If you see the bulb flicker, you have found your bad connection.
