Water Temperature Gauge

I've purchased two replacement water temp gauges and both will not fit the port in the cylinder head. Thread diameter is correct but the pitch is metric, like 1.5. Old gauge is installed at this time and I've forgotten the threads per inch but they are definitely different. I have not purchased one from YT but has anyone else run into this? I believe the first gauge I bought was years ago from CT Farm and Equipment. Both new gauges were listed as replacements for my tractor, 1957 Ford 641 Workmaster.

They are desgined to be used with the adapter that come with them that fits nothing.
