Rossa Master, Stanadyne DBGVCC4298AJ is on my 861D I see it has power unit engine. Whats the deal with shutoff on fuel return line? It should be open to tank.

800 series did not come from the factory with a diesel engine. The first diesels were in the *01 series and were Roosa Master pumps, now called Stanadyne.

Shaun,
Good information. Not sure why Bob has a shutoff vavle on the return line. He told me to prevent fuel from running back to the pump and into the base of the engine.

M-MAN,
This tractor has a story. My friend , who owns the tractor 860 ford, was pushing trees down with the bucket on the tractor. He kept going up a tree with bucket on the tractor. Tree snapped back and tractor went upside down on top of
Bob. He was lucky and was able to jump backwards. Tractor sat for 10 years and was on the way to the junk yard. His Wife asked me to help get it going again. Has been a long repair: Front bolster broke when tractor went upside down due to weight of the bucket. Got a rebuilt bolster from Unger Tractor and had to cut a drive shaft for the pump.
A nice old tractor that is very helpful to my friend. Will check the return line for the diesel. Does it go into a standpipe in the tank? which is above level of diesel in tank or does it empty into top of tank

The fitting that screws into the bottom of the tank is supposed to have a standpipe on the top of it. The pipe goes almost to the top of the tank so there won't be any backpressure. I bought a new fitting and silver soldered a copper tube because that's what I had. You could use a steel brake line like the original was. I think you can still get the updated pipe but mine is the old single inlet.

When you remove the fitting from the bottom of the tank you will see right away how it goes right away. I drilled the fitting out a little to accommodate some tubing because the original stand pipe had worn down from being loose. I glued the tubing in with JB Weld maybe ten years ago.

The stand pipe is for excess fuel from inj. The line off cover goes back to tank so fuel will run out when line is removed.
