looking at adding a jubilee to the fleet of one (ferguson 2085) Is reverse to fast for a snow blower? do they have a live PTO? thanks in advance.

The Jubilee does not have live PTO. It has transmission driven PTO. The speed in reverse is too fast at the engine rpm's required to get 540 rpm PTO speed for blowing anything more than a few inches of light fluffy snow. The only transmission in a pre-1965 Ford tractor that would be slow enough in reverse for good snow blowing results would be the Select-O-Speed transmission, and those have independent PTO, which is better even than live PTO.

(quoted from post at 02:09:33 09/11/21) Many N and hundered series had Sherman Hi-Lo that give them lower gears.

The Sherman auxiliary transmissions change the input speed of the transmission, so in order to get proper 540 rpm from the transmission driven PTO when the Sherman is in its low range, you need to increase the engine rpm's to the point where you have the same ground speed as the regular gear ratio needs for 540 rpm PTO speed. In other words, the speed of the PTO is directly linked to the ground speed of the rear wheels in any particular gear on the main transmission regardless of what range the Sherman is in.
