About 8 hours of bush hogging

I brought the 4200 up to the property on Wednesday and put about 5 hours on it.
Then my bro and I put about 3 hours on it yesterday.
The grass in the photo was at my brothers and very easy mowing. Drought this year so not much growth. Because of the dry conditions I was able to mow out in the swamps quite a ways. That stuff is always a Very hard mow and the tractor got a real workout. I didn't baby it. I took the 'drive it like you stole it' approach. It performed flawlessly. Two glitches on it.
The handle on the pto wants to let it pop out of gear. I will need to adjust it or even do a bit of reengineering on it.
For now I just used a bungee cord.
And the fuel cap doesn't seal so I had a couple quarts of fuel slosh out all over it. First time I had ever filled the tank.
It is kind of a galoot of a tractor. Like a Great Dane compared to my Border Collie 3000.
I sure like it tho. Sitting up there like the boss. Almost zero turning with it.
I left it in the shed up there and brought my yellow tractor home.
I never finished the yellow one. New garage here at home a few years ago and then the 4200 got in the way. Looking forward to getting back on it this fall.
I think this one will eventually put both the 3000 and 4200 to shame. For mowing anyway.

A couple of photos for you guys.

I really do like these old Fords.

You say you like the feel of riding high compared to your other tractors? You should try a 6000 sometime...err..opps, nevermind, it has a SOS trans.

Looks good by the way, for a trike.

I never thought I would do a food plot for DEER, last Saturday I jumped on the 3000 and ran a disc up and down the power line. Today I noticed a flat on my 3000 so I spec it will be my last food plot for a dang deer.

One of my Farmalls has a flat I been putting off putting tires on it. The Farmall and 3000 will get a new set of rears soon.

I wish I had a use for a 5000.
Would love to own one.
Have had a few opportunities to buy one but they are just too big for my purposes.

Looking good!!! I know what you are saying about sitting up in the air! I get the same feeling when I get on my 5200 after running my 4 cylinder 4000's that are all the all purpose models.

That is a good looking 4200. Although 3000,4000 and 5000 Fords were very popular around here in their time, the row crop versions of the 4000 and 5000 are not real common. I really like my 4000 but for brush hogging it would be nice to be up higher out of the weeds like the 4200 is . Watch out for getting in wet places with that single front tire . I bet she is a handy tractor with a mounted brush hog like you have in the picture.

Nice pictures. The farmer down the road is a Ford guy. I got to move his open station 8700 once. Felt like the man on that beast.
