Ford 2600 - Power Steering Pump Possible Damage

Hello,

I just purchased a Ford 2600 last week, my first tractor. One of the power steering cylinders has a pretty big leak. I was wondering, if enough of the power steering fluid leaks out will this cause damage to the power steering pump? I assume it uses the fluid for lubrication.

Thanks,

Yes, the oil serves as both lubricant for
the pump, and fluid for operating the
cylinders. A little low isn't going to
hurt the pump, but running it dry will
ruin it.

Thanks! I'll wait till the replacement parts come in then before I drive it anymore. It is a pretty bad leak,
