Ford 3000 pressure relief/ hydraulic control valve

We have a 72 3000 diesel made in Antwerp.
We have redone the lift cover, changed the
filters, and replaced the lines. It holds
solid in any position and doesn't bleed
off. The problem is that the engine hated
to be revved to 1500 ram or so for the
arms to lift. Once lifted all is good.

I did not change the valve on the bottom
of the tractor that looks like a bolt and
is called a bunch of different names.

Could this valve be why I have to rev the
tractor for it to lift? I am pretty much
out of stuff to change. The system was
also bled.

Thanks

I don't have an answer for you but even though you changed the pump I would still do a pressure test on it.
I think about 25-2700 psi is about they generally run
Also,
Maybe 12 years ago I was having hyd problems on a 3000 and thought it might be the pressure relief valve you are talking about.
I called my hometown dealer to order one.
The old school parts man there said it was probably not the PRV.
He said he could look up how many of any part they had sold going back to when they went to new computerized parts listings in the early 1990s?.
He had never sold one since then.
The problem ended up being the pump was not making pressure.
The old parts man has passed away now and a LOT of knowledge passed with him.

Check the pump pressure, most likely there. My 2000 used to lift intermittently and chatter when it did lift in cold weather. Worked OK when warm. I went through the whole lift system and set it up according to specs but that didn't help. Pump looked good inside but all the problems went away after a rebuild. Mainly it was the check valves.

I'm thinking the pump pressure is low.. would check it first. I usually see it go up to 2100 to 2200 then the check valve starts opening and buzzing,,, so the gauge reads between 1900 and 2300 buzzing.... This is at 1200 rpms... bad pumps will read 1500 or lower... bad pumps will read higher on cold fluid and then drop a bunch as the fluid warms up... so you can see it drop off... in a couple of minutes or running some times....
